Hello there!

Today I have another look that I created from using nail vinyls from BornPrettyStore. It is the Gardenia vinyls this time.

I wanted this nail art look to be simple yet sparkly enough. Hence I had on a base color of Rimmel London "Seduce" a deep dark purple. Then I placed the vinyl over the dried base polish. I used Model's Own "Southern Lights" a silvery blue glitter polish for the second color.

I had to use a small  brush to paint over the vinyl, I thought that it gave best results. Painting over from the polish brush itself was not that great as the polish was a bit thick.

I absolutely loved how this turned out! I feel that you have to be careful when using the vinyls as it could be a bit flimsy! Here's a macro shot for your enjoyment *wink wink*

Here's how the nail vinyl looks like on the sheet.

More vinyls from BornPrettyStore? Oh yeah, here's one that I used as a sticker instead! You can find this triangle patterned vinyl here.

This manicure is totally inspired by Angel from @twi_star! See her video here which got me thinking of using vinyls as stickers :D

I went for a rather badass cool look so I had on Zoya "Payton" a deep rich purple red with strong holographic specks that matches well with the gold holographic vinyl sheet. It does look really cool eh?

However I do not think that this manicure can last very long LOL because the vinyl may pop off from the edges. It was not meant for this purpose but I was just trying it out this way :D Would you wear this look?

Flower Patterned Nail Art with BornPrettyStore Vinyl

Well hello there!

Recently I have picked out some vinyls from bornprettystore to try out for review. Here is the first vinyl! It is a flower patterned design that I thought was pretty and cool at the same time. I tried two methods for this manicure.

First off on the ring finger, I used the decal method. Meaning, paste the vinyl over a zip lock bag, painted over it with piCture pOlis "Winter" and then remove the vinyl. After letting it dry properly, I put a layer of clear polish over and let dry. Then I peel off the decal from the zip lock. I prepped my nails with NCLA "Lightyears Ahead" and placed the decal over. The designs came out pretty neat!

The second method on my middle finger was the old school way of placing the vinyl over the base color and then going in with the second color and removing the vinyl straight after.  The results you get will not  be as great as the decal method. I did go in with the base color to clean up the lines and all.

For my accent nails, I did a simple design with a base of "Winter" and then a dot of "Lightyears Ahead" near the cuticle. Thought that it would tie up the whole look together :)

Overall this vinyls are easy to use and are great for beginners trying out new methods! If you're unsure, try both methods and see which one works for you best!!

Hola there!

I am back with a few swatches to share with you, so stay tuned for more polishes up on the blog! The brand I am showing you is Jior Couture. I am very pleased to have the change to swatch for them yet again! (Click here to see my other reviews).

In today's post, I present to you 3 of the 5 polishes from Crystal (nail) Gems Part IV Complete Set. First off, let's take a look at RAINBOW QUARTZ!

This is a sheer pinky base polish, with silvery small flakies and serious holographic tiny bar glitters. My swatches (all 3 polishes) are four coats, yes FOUR. Honestly you could do away with three for all the polishes, it's just that for swatch purposes I thought four would look better.

The reflective-ness of the silver flakies distracts you from your surroundings to just look at your nails. I mean, just look at the photo below and you know what I mean :P

Here's some bonus macro shot for you!

The application was  not difficult, however I do recommend that you do thin coats instead of thicker ones. It does help to speed up the drying time if you use thinner coats!

Also, all swatches are topped off with Jior Couture - Cover Me Smooth top coat. It has that nice finish, a cross between glossy and velvety. But not too velvety! I did not leave this manicure on for long to be able to do a wear test for this top coat. Maybe one day I should do this test!

I sure do think that Rainbow Quartz is the perfect name for this polish as it does give off holographic rainbow-y reflections and it does look like a gem in some angles!

Alrighty, next up we have UNKNOWN. What a mysterious name eh? But looking at the polish, I can understand why!

Unknown is packed with a bunch of micro glitters, black, teal, purple and with a touch of holographic to them. This combination of colors does make the polish so mysterious and dark, kudos for such an apt name!

These dried down more gritty than the other polishes and I used two coats of Cover Me Smooth instead. Here you can see the close up macro shot, what a lovely sight!

Lastly we have Stevvonie. I saved the best for the last. I'll just put it out there and say that I love this one the most out of the three, even though when I looked at the bottle I wasn't at all excited. BUT, looking at the bottle shot below, I would have taken back my words :P

This polish is rather interesting and unique. It has a sheer somewhat blue-ish gray base with a ton of micro-glitters. There's this shift in the blue-ish gray base that I mentioned, in some lighting it's gray, then it becomes blurple and then I see navy with flashes of green. It's just so interesting! I literally stared at my nails and moving them in different angles under different lighting.

And alas the macro shot of Jior Couture "Stevvonie". I must say that this polish had the glitters lay pretty flat out of the three that I have swatched. Again. I do recommend doing thin layers for all the polishes that I reviewed here.

So, what do you think of this few polishes? Are you so gonna grab Stevvonie? Let me know which of these three are your favs in the comments!

Good Sunday to all!

This week has been one cray cray week! My project deadline is approaching and I'm all rushing at work!

However, let's take a break with this look that I came across this post from Sonailicious and was tempted to try it out myself, and so I did! I changed up the colors a bit to suit my blue taste :P

I wanted to do some negative space really badly cause it's pretty but I seldom get around to doing them! And I was glad that SoNailicious inspired me to do one and I really loved how mine turned out. Let me know what you think below in the comments!

Hello all!

It's rare that I post on a weekday now eh? I've been busy back at work but today is an exception.

Three years ago today, I started off my Instagram nail account, @nailsbykarise. If you haven't already know, I was introduced to nail art by my classmate Zenna (@themanicuredmissy on Instagram) and ever since then, I was in the game :D

I created this nail art look that is not my usual style, but it does get my message across to you! I know my growth in terms of following isn't the greatest, and my likes aren't that many. It does get on to me, sometimes I feel like I shouldn't bother doing my nails. Especially when I'm busy with work or school.

Then again, I do come back to nail art and I love it. So, thank you to any one who still reads this blog LOL or who still looks at my Instagram, Facebook or whatever posts <3

In case any of you are wondering how I did this manicure, I started off with Essie "Cute As A Button" and then the designs are all from various stamping plates. The number 3 is from BornPrettyStore's BP39 stamping plate, the hearts on my pointer and pink is from plate BP50.

The cute leaves surrounding the words are from Bundle Monster's BM713 plate, I removed the center image with scotch tape. And the letters are from BM705. I left the stamped design on the stamper and then added a layer of clear polish over and then placed the designs where I wanted them to be.

I finished it all off with a hint of sparkle, using INM Nails Out The Door Silver Holographic Top Coat, and that's that!

Once again, thank you reader for sticking with me :)

BornPrettyStore XL Clear Stamper Review & Nail Art Tutorial

item was sent for review Hello all! Today I have a REVIEW! Yes, I have not done one in ages ...

Hello all! Today I have a REVIEW! Yes, I have not done one in ages... I know. It is the XL Clear Marshmallow Silicone Jelly Stamper that comes with a cap and a scraper. It's US$3.59 and I must say it would be a good investment if you are starting out! This stamper requires no priming at all, that's such a bonus!!

You can see how well the image is picked up from the stamping plate. I used BP48 plate also from BornPrettyStore and Konad white stamping polish. This was how the image is like on the stamper. Crisp nice lines :)

I decided to come up with this manicre, using all blue polishes hehe! I painted my pointer and pinky with a minty color base using Paul & Joe "12". Because this stamper is clear and see-through, it is much easier to place the top part of the design at the bottom of my nail near the cuticle.

For my accent nails, I had on a white base and then using three shades of blue I created a gradient. I used Formula X "Omni", Model's Own "Beth's Blue" and Paul & Joe "12". Instead of using traditional sponging gradient, I put the colors down on the nail and then used a fan brush to blend the colors together.

After letting it dry, I stamped on the full design on my nail, aligning the design nicely. It is really helpful that you can see it through and ensure your placements are perfect. See the macro shot below!

If words don't fit you, here is a video tutorial! And yes, it's a YOUTUBE video, I haven't made on in donkey years haha! See it below now :D
